Like pubs and restaurants everywhere, we have to close our doors again from Thursday 5 November – another 4 weeks of national lockdown. But just like the first time around, we will continue to support the community of Hunsdon and surrounding villages with our twice weekly shop – as before we will be open two mornings a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am – 1pm. We moved the Fox Shop inside the Fox & Hounds in July so you can shop in the warm and dry for essentials like bread, meat, eggs and deli items.
We will also serve coffee and pastries for take-away while the shop is open and you’ll be able to collect our Fox & Hounds finish at home meals.
Finish-at-home meals
James will continue to make delicious meals to finish at home including soups, pies, curry and weekly specials including lots of favourite Fox & Hounds classics. Keep an eye on our notice boards outside the pub, Instagram, Facebook & The Hunsdon Community Hub to find out what’s available each week. We will launch a brand new online shop from 11 November so you can place your order and pay via our website, but in this first week please place your order by calling us on 01279 843999.
In order to give us time to prepare everything to order, please place your order by 6pm on Mondays for Wednesday collections and by 6pm on Thursdays for Saturday collections.
Fish & Chips
Our Friday night take-away Fish and Chips have been a fixture for years and will still be available during lockdown. As always we have a limited number so please get your orders in as early as possible so you don’t miss out. Call us on 01279 843999 to order for collection between 5.30 and 7.30 on Fridays.
Sunday Lunch
There’s no reason to miss out on our famous Fox & Hounds Sunday roasts – and let’s face it we’ll all need comfort food to keep us going through this autumn lockdown.
Keep an eye on noticeboards and social media to check what Sunday roasts we’re serving each week and place your order by 6pm on Friday night for collection on Sunday between 12.30 and 2.30.
Supporting our community
We’re sorry that we can’t offer a delivery service but we will have a collection point outside if you do not wish to come inside. If you know people who are sheltering during lock down perhaps you’d consider doing some shopping or ordering a meal for them?
We all hope that the run on essentials in supermarkets won’t be as crazy now as it was in spring, but we hope that you will continue to support our local business and our faithful local suppliers like Dolce Forno bakery, Dawlicious Ice Cream, East End Farm Eggs & Amwell fruit and veg. We all face a challenging time in the run up to Christmas – usually the busiest time of year for food producers and pubs and restaurants.
We refused to be defeated!
We celebrated our 16th anniversary at the Fox & Hounds in October and we we’re are very grateful to everyone locally who has supported us during this difficult year. Since we reopened our doors in July we have been fully booked most days and it’s devastating to have to close again, but we will be back as soon as we are allowed to open our doors again.
